Hotel Drisco, a renowned boutique hotel in Pacific Heights, has re-opened its doors after a six month top-to-bottom renovation; and while we certainly missed the legendary ‘Classic San Francisco’ charm that the hotel is famous for, their much anticipated re-opening has proven to be totally worth the wait.
Hotel Drisco has made a name for itself over the years as a luxurious San Francisco retreat, the perfect get-away destination for both tourists and locals alike. Located on an idyllic intersection of Pacific Avenue and Broderick Street in prime Pac Heights, the hotel started as a 27-room boarding house in 1903 and now stands as a luxury 48-room hotel and meeting space and the preferred choice for visitors seeking a serene and welcoming neighborhood experience, far removed from the often hectic atmosphere surrounding the downtown and Union Square hotels.
While Hotel Drisco prides itself on maintaining a definitive Edwardian style with charming ‘old-world’ sensibilities, this latest renovation has introduced a number of contemporary and innovative features, creating the perfect fusion of classic style with modern amenities. Guest room updates include radiant hydronic heating and cooling systems, heated bathroom floors, lighted fog-free vanity mirrors, walk-in showers and expertly appointed furniture and décor. The building now boasts a new high-speed elevator, renovated Dining Room and Boardroom and refreshed hallway lighting and artwork. The result is an upscale yet comfortable atmosphere, giving guests the sense of visiting a fabulous family friend versus a standard stay at a hotel.
General Manager John Spear says of the re-opening, “Our top priority with this renovation was to retain the local character and refined but relaxed ambiance our guests have always loved us for, while weaving in many thoughtful refinements.” And of the elegant, yet comfortable aesthetic fashioned by the renovation, Spear says, “Many of our guests are repeat visitors who stay with us again and again. They have always told us that they feel like this is their second home and with this renovation we really wanted it to feel more like an upscale home, not just a hotel.”
Combining their famously gracious service with these newly expanded features and a number of complimentary extras like delicious gourmet breakfasts, a daily wine reception and chauffeur service, guests of Hotel Drisco can once again relax, unwind and rejuvenate in their newly modernized home away from home.
