Carneros Inn

Just a hop, skip and a jump outside of San Francisco, Carneros Inn is Country-chic traveling at its finest; a quintessential staycation and an absolute must for locals and travelers alike.

Once you enter into the Carneros Inn gates, you’ll find that the entire setup is reminiscent of a small town. Each group of rooms is set in its own “neighborhood” with its own little parking area.  We found the rooms to be minimalist country-chic with just enough luxury and and bare necessities you’ll need. If you can snag one of the rooms with a backyard tub and fireplace – then by all means, do it.  Yes, it’s a little more pricy, but you’ll have a whole set of outdoor amenities to sit back, relax and roast some smores at night!

This leads perfectly into the beauty of Carneros Inn…this is a quintessential wine country lovers paradise! So forget the rooms.  Whether you choose to enjoy your private outdoor amenities, take a walk to the pool area with that amazing view of the rolling vineyards, enjoy the spa area (also with a splendid view), dine at the hilltop, the daytime restaurant or at Farm (one of our favorite restaurants ever), you’ll be thoroughly enchanted.

Calistoga

Calistoga Ranch is by far, one of the most impressive resorts we’ve ever experienced.  The property marries eco-outdoor lifestyle so perfectly with indoor luxury and comfort.  Every amenity is top notch. They’ve got hiking trails with breathtaking views, a quaint little vineyard, a party space, a private restaurant, a wine cave, a spa, and so many other special things.

You’ll walk into your room, which is anything but a room.  It’s a private living area with a bedroom + bathroom with jacuzi bathtub, indoor rainfall shower and outdoor shower.  Now this whole space is separated by an open-air “living” space that includes a jacuzzi + cooking area, then on the other side, you’ll find the indoor living area that includes a den, mini-bar and mini-bathroom.  And it’s all yours!  (Ok, it’s a bit pricy –  these rooms start around $1100 a night, but if you really want to impress someone or come for a holiday or honeymoon, then Calistoga Ranch is perfect).  Also, what’s nice is that you feel so secluded from your neighbors.  You can literally be naked in your open-air jaccuzi and no one will see you.

What’s also really nice is that this is a “no car” property.  You park your car in the lot and the guys on the golf carts take you around wherever you want to go. So peaceful, so serene. If you can snag a room for the weekend, you’ll be thoroughly happy you made the trip.

This hip, eco-friendly hotel is all about versatility. Rooms are minimalist-chic and have everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay conveniently located at 219 Healdsburg Ave. And it’s all about versatility at the h2 Hotel; whether you’re in town for a quiet night, or if you’re feeling a little more social, there’s something for everyone at h2. Head downstairs to Spoonbar for a happening crowd, scrumptious bites, impressive mixology or a glass of wine.

One of the best features of staying at Hotel Healdsburg is the access you’ll have to the lovely shops, restaurants, tasting rooms and offerings on and around Healdsburg Avenue.  It’s really one of the most relaxing, charming and chic staycations you’ll find within an hour and a half from San Francisco.

Casa Munras Hotel & Spa

From the outside, the simple and charming spanish style of Casa Munras may fool you; actually, this hotel is fully equipped with a heated pool, a spa, and restaurant called Esteban.  The cozy lobby area even has homemade cookies and the most delicious cucumber/lemon/cinnamon water.  It’s all about spectacular service at Casa Munras Hotel & Spa. In fact, from the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was so attentive and so polite.

The best part is that Casa Munras is located right in the middle of all the fun, making it a really a fantastic, affordable gateway hotel to discover Monterey for the weekend.  Just a short walk to all of the cute little shops, restaurants and happenings on cannery row, you really can’t go wrong!
