Most of us have at least one holiday fête on our calendars during this festive season, and a Holiday party is a great opportunity to try something fresh and exciting with your makeup routine. Holiday makeup should have an extra-special element of glamour that stands out from your everyday makeup look. Whether it’s an office party, a family get together or a black-tie gala that you are gearing up for, here are some ways to achieve festive, party-perfect makeup that will leave you feeling merry and bright all the way to the New Year.
1. Red Lips
Red is one of the colors we see most often in seasonal décor and rocking a bold, crimson-hued lip will help you achieve a sophisticated and sexy look that will work at any Holiday celebration. Even if you typically shy away from bold lip colors, a Holiday party is the perfect occasion to make a statement with a pretty pout that will make you feel crazy-confident and bring out your smile in all of the party pics. Worried that crimson lips aren’t a flattering color choice for your complexion? Rest assured that these days there is a shade of red that will compliment every skin tone so there is no excuse not to give this look a go when primping for your next Holiday party.
Recommends: Looking for a classic, ravishing red lipstick? Try NARS Audacious Lipstick in Annabella or Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in Danger. If you are more of a glossy girl, try Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Poppy or Buxom Full-Bodied Lip gloss in Hot Mama.
2. Passion for Purple
Red, Green, Silver and Gold may be the traditional colors of the Holiday season but who can deny that Purple has been absolutely everywhere in beauty trends this year? World renowned color authority Pantone declared Radiant Orchid as its 2014 Color of the Year and as fast as you can say ho, ho, ho, every possible shade of purple was popping up in polishes, shadows, liners and lip colors in major cosmetics brands everywhere. If you are a true beauty guru then chances are that purple is already present in your makeup collection and a Holiday gathering is the perfect time to make a statement with your lilacs, lavenders, violets and plums.

3. Metallic Lids
If you would rather make a statement with your eye-catching eye makeup this Holiday season, metallic eye shadow may be just what Santa ordered to give to give your peepers the perfect pop of color. Metallic eye shadow is a huge trend right now and there is no denying the glam factor that shiny, metallic-hued lids will add to your makeup look. These shadows not only come in an array of traditional metal-toned shades, but you can also find them in a variety of colorful jewel-tones that will flatter any eye color and bring some give you a flare to any party ensamble.

4. Highlighted Cheekbones
Sparkles are everywhere this time of year and you can incorporate the same sentiment when prepping your party look by adding a shimmery layer of highlight to the top of your cheekbones. Applied to the top of beautifully-blushed cheeks, highlighting gives dimension to your face by adding a subtle glow to the ridges of your cheekbones and undoubtedly provides an extra element of glamour to your look. If this technique is already on your everyday makeup menu, you can make a special statement by opting for a more dramatic, glitter-infused highlighter for a truly goddess-like glow. To achieve a more understated look, opt for a shimmering highlighter with just a subtle amount of sheen. And there is an added bonus to adding a beautiful highlighter to your makeup collection, as most of these powders can serve double-duty as eyeshadows as well!
Recommends: If you are looking for a bold highlighter, try Urban Decay Naked Illuminated in Luminous or Nars Highlighting Blush in Miss Liberty. For a subtle and subdued glow, try Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light or Burberry Fresh Glow in Nude Radiance.
