Bubbles, baubles and high fashion were flowing during the once-in-a-lifetime fashion show luncheon hosted by Shreve & Co.  The exclusive event,  held on March 2nd, brought VIP guests up close and personal with Shreve’s collection of estate pieces, including a 26.56 carat Cartier necklace from the personal collection of French actress Catherine Deneuve.

Shreve & Co., San Francisco’s premier jeweler for 165 years, partnered with Bay Area fashion designer, Karen Caldwell, to present the historic estate jewelry.  Runway models donned Caldwell’s classic dresses paired with Shreve’s iconic pieces across all eras, from Edwardian filigree to dazzling diamonds of the Art Deco period and the glamorous golden designs of the postwar era. Each one-of-a-kind gem had been hand-wrought with care by a master jeweler of the day, offering incomparable value, craftsmanship and style.

“I’m thrilled to partner with Shreve for this fabulous show,” said Karen Caldwell.  “It is a dream to style my designs with incredible estate jewelry pieces from throughout history, especially with Catherine Deneuve’s exquisite necklace as a centerpiece. We are designing this to truly capture the essence of her style.”

The fashion show was a preview to the Shreve & Co. estate jewelry trunk show, which ran from March 2nd – 4th. Over 300 extraordinary pieces of estate jewelry from Shreve & Co. were on display for the three day show, including the said Cartier necklace from Catherine Deneuve’s collection.  The one-of-a-kind necklace was designed, circa 1980, as a central octagonal-shaped emerald weighing 26.56 carats, within a yellow gold surround set with baguette diamonds, to a graduated platinum necklace composed of baguette-shaped diamonds.

Miss Denueve is famous for her work with iconoclastic European film directors such as François Truffaut and Luis Buñuel. She has designed her own lines of glasses, jewelry and shoes and is said to have been the muse of designer Yves Saint Laurent, who designed the costumes for many of her films.
