On October 18, The Shanti Project celebrated its 40th Anniversary with the Compassion is Universal Dinner at the Fairmont Hotel, a sparkling evening co-chaired by Bahya Oumlil-Murad and Ken Fulk, which drew support from more than 600 guests.
Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani of Glide Memorial Church were honored this year with the Nancy Pelosi Lifetime Achievement Award from The Honorable Willie L. Brown, Jr. The black-tie affair raised $510,000 to benefit Shanti’s mission of providing compassionate practical and emotional support to San Francisco’s most vulnerable individuals living with a life-threatening illness, such as HIV/AIDS and breast and gynecological cancers. Each year Shanti serves over 2,000 people with Breast Cancer or HIV/AIDS.
